Mia Zabelka composer, electric violinist and vocalist from Vienna will present her new solo PROJECT M which focuses on the development of experimental improvisational techniques with the voice and violin, a process she calls AUTOMATIC PLAYING. She explores the relationships between the body, gesture, sound, machines and space using also live electronics to expand the electro-acoustic sonic spectrum. Mia Zabelka works with the sound on and of her own body using small contact microphones applied to her skin and hair, and also incorporates sounds from inside the body, which she records using medical equipment and transforms into electro-acoustic compositions. Hailing from Salzburg, Austria, THE MERRY POPPINS are a live band fusing Balkan styles, Jazz, Hip Hop and 1930s-50s cabaret sounds, with a solid base of skankin urban roots Reggae. This all is further spiced up with musical inspiration that they have picked up on their tours during the last couple of years, be it on the Balkans 2008 - 2010 or in Egypt and Israel 2010. The exhibition Colliding Discourses, which takes place in the frame of biennale, deals with what happens when different discourses meet, create friction, and collide with one another. The exhibition attempts to give some perspectives based on contemporary art. In the frame of the exhibition the Austrian artist Swetlana Heger offers examples of colliding social environments. On the 9th of May, Russia will honor their veterans with a huge firework in the evening in honor of those who left or risked their life to overthrow the National Socialist regime. In an apartment of the famous " House on the Embankment" we offer not only a great view on the Kremlin and so, an amazing view on the firework, we also present a view on the veterans being honored on this day. The exceptional photograph of the Novosibirsk opera Ewgenij Iwanow ,who works together with i.a. Art- group BLUE NOSES, has photographed over years veterans from Novosibirsk. Miguel Herz-Kestranek is one of the most famous and versatile artists in Austria. Natasha Reich studied organ with Rudolf Scholz and Martin Haselböck/Vienna and Theo Jellema/Groningen. Since 1997 she is taking part in international master classes with Rudolf Scholz, Maria Baydanowa, Peter Hrncirik, Jean Guillou, Bart van Oort , Jürgen Essl, Jeremy Joseph and many more in Austria and abroad. From 2000 to 2006 she was giving lectures in Vienna and played in churches in Vienna and Lower Austria. The Austrian Cultural Forum and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory present the concert " Gustav Mahler and musical culture of his time". As versions for chamber orchestra will sound famous compositions of Gustav Mahler (to the 150th anniversary of his birth) and Alban Berg (to the 125th anniversary of his birth and the 75th anniversary of the death). One of these versions, Mahler s symphony was composed for the well-known Viennese Society for Private Musical Performances founded by Schoenberg. The Austrian Cultural Forum, in cooperation with Stella Art Foundation, presents the first exhibition ever in Russia by Hermann Nitsch. The exhibition has been entitled " Theatre of Orgies and Mysteries".The idea of " Theatre of Orgies and Mysteries" as a new form of synthesis of arts (Gesamtkunstwerk) was born 1957. The main points of his mysteries are beneficence, suffering, death and renaissance. In the context of this continuous project, the artist has implemented more than 130 actions. The exhibition features the artist s work dating from different years and performed in different media: photographic documentation of actions, paintings created using the medium of the " painting of action", while a specially equipped cinema hall will have on show Nitsch s films – video documentations of his actions and performances. The Austrian cultural forum in cooperation with the Priorbank RZB Group presents a concert of the Viennese singer Timna Brauer. With " Songs from Jerusalem" Timna Brauer and her ensemble will present richness of traditional Jewish music on the one hand and on the other hand they will search for its connections with Christian and Islamic songs. For instance, Yemeni hymns resemble Gregorian chants and Oriental fantasias somehow hold Hasidic melodies and Arabic cadences together. Timna Brauer was born in Vienna. She is a daughter of Arik Brauer, an austrian painter. She collaborates with her husband, Elias Meiri, an Israeli pianist.1985 together with him she founded an ensemble, which annually appears on the world stages with Jazz, Ethno and Chansons programs. The Biennale is aimed at showing how industrialized work merges with insubstantial work. The Austrian curator, writer and editor Georg Schöllhammer began his carrier as cultural editor for the Austrian Newspaper " Standart”. He later founded his own art journal called " Springerin”. As curator he has already organized countless national and international events. This year the open air festival Jazz in the Hermitage Garden takes place for the 12th time. This event always attracts renowned artists from all over the world. This year, also the Austrian musician and composer Ulrich Drechsler will perform on the festival. Drechsler discovered his love for music at an early age and later studied Jazz at the Graz University for Musics and Art. He has been living as freelance musician in Vienna since 1999 and has published several albums with different ensembles, interpreting Jazz in manifold variations.

She studied under Rahel Stoellger at the famous Viennese University of Music and Performing Arts and has been awarded several international honors. The famous Viennese music expert and radio anchorman, Gottfried Cervenka will speak about the life of the musician Josef Schmidt. Cervenka leads the music store Da Caruso, which is located near the Vienna Opera, for more than 25 years. It is a recommended place for music and opera enthusiasts from all over the world. In the sixties he astablished a private archive, which contains some of the first sound records at all, and is a well known address for interprets and music experts. In Moscow he will share his knowledge with the audience and present some interesting music records, which will introduce us to the musical world of Josef Schmidt.

After the great success in 2008, the Architecture-Biannual takes place for the second time in the "Central House of the Artists", in correlation with the "Arch-Moscow exhibition". The exhibition is curated by the Austrian architect Marion Kreid, who lives in Moscow. The Austrian cultural forum is official partner of the Biannual and has its own stand at the exhibition.

German Language - Festival Three Countries – Three Writers – One Language

The Austrian Cultural Institute, the Goethe-Institute and the Swiss Embassy organise a three-day festival dedicated to the German language at the State University in Yekaterinburg. The week will commence with a symposium about librarianship in Austria and Russia at the Austrian Library in Moscow. Beside Austrian experts on the theme also translators of children´s books will speak about their experience. The Austrian children´s book author Rudolf Gigler will present his books and hold a workshop with librarians and children. A lot of interesting prices are to be expected in the quiz about Austria. Gustav Klimt s opus does not travel very often, and even more seldom it reaches Moscow. Therefore we are very glad to present, together with the Bookplate Museum, the broad private collection of the Austrian bookplate expert and collector Heinrich Scheffer. Bookplates are not only name tags in books; in fact they present a special field of graphic art, to which numerous well known artists rendered outstanding services from the beginning of the 19th century up to this day. The collection shown in Moscow draws the bow from past to present. One of the highlights of the exhibition: A bookplate, designed by Gustav Klimt for the Secession in Vienna.

The project “Einfallsreich durch Österreich” (eng. resourceful through Austria) is a multimedia-based quiz organised by the Chair of Linguistics and Information Technologies at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Regional Research of the Moscow State University Lomonossov (MGU).
