Solo exhibition by Darja Shatalova “Metonymia”

“Metonymia” is a solo exhibition by Darja Shatalova at the Center for Creative Industries "Fabrika", organized in cooperation with the Austrian Cultural Forum Moscow. This large-scale project was developed over a period of two years.

This site-specific, accessible installation explores the concept of universal knowledge concerning the order of the world. At the core of the work lies the idea that fundamental cosmological principles are not bound to a specific era: they can modify their form while retaining their inner essence.

Darja Shatalova is a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on the structuralisation and systematisation of data, describing current events of the environment and the personal microcosm. She creates multi-layered, coded forms of expression that are composed of symbols, mathematical signs, colour codes and assignments, serving analysis and pattern recognition. The data, collected in the form of graphic notes in artist’s books, is translated into site-specific installations.
